Change and continuity became the way of social life in ancient and medieval Odisha. Society and social condition are permanent structures of a society. The society of Odisha was balanced under the Gajaptis. The social structure did not remain the same throughout the period. The emergence of numerous castes and sub-castes broke the social fabric into pieces. But in spite of that the society remain stable, peaceful and coherent. As literature considered as one of the social documents, the legendary work of Odia literature Sarala Mahabharat written by Sarala Das also critically analysed to assess the social scenario. Here it is an attempt to study and analyse the society, social condition and changes in social life during the Suryavamsi Gajapati period.

This study investigates the impact of algorithmic recommendation systems on academic performance, perceived stress, and decision-making quality among college students in the Kalyan-Dombivli region. With the growing use of digital platforms such as social media, video streaming services, and educational applications, recommendation algorithms increasingly shape students' content consumption patterns and daily behavior. A quantitative research approach was adopted, and primary data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered to undergraduate and postgraduate students. The study introduces Distraction Load as a mediating factor and Algorithmic Literacy as a moderating factor to better understand behavioural outcomes. The findings indicate that higher reliance on recommendation systems leads to increased distraction and stress, which negatively affects academic performance and decision-making. However, students with higher algorithmic awareness demonstrate improved control over digital consumption and reduced negative effects. The study also proposes a transparent and feedback-driven recommendation framework that prioritizes student well-being alongside personalization. The results highlight the need for ethical algorithm design and improved digital literacy to support healthier academic environments.

Fast-food consumption has increased significantly among college students due to convenience, accessibility, affordability, and changing lifestyle patterns. Excessive consumption of fast food is associated with several adverse health effects, including obesity, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and other lifestyle-related disorders. The present study was undertaken to assess the knowledge regarding the health impact of fast-food consumption among college students. A quantitative descriptive research design was adopted for the study. Data were collected from 100 participants using a structured and validated questionnaire consisting of demographic variables and knowledge-related items. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings revealed that 23% of participants had poor knowledge, 37% had average knowledge, 16% had good knowledge, 14% had very good knowledge, and 10% had excellent knowledge regarding the health impact of fast-food consumption. The study concluded that although a considerable number of students possessed basic knowledge regarding the harmful effects of fast-food consumption, there remains a need for continuous health education programmes and awareness initiatives to promote healthy dietary practices and prevent lifestyle-related health problems among college students.

This study examines the economic organization, social relations, and cultural patterns in Tiruppur through a historical lens, situating the region within broader shifts in South Indian economic and social structures. The analysis traces the transformation of Tiruppur from an agrarian settlement embedded in caste-based occupational hierarchies to a major textile production centre integrated into global markets. Attention is given to the restructuring of labour systems, including the movement from hereditary labour arrangements to wage-based industrial employment, alongside the emergence of small-scale entrepreneurial networks that facilitated export-oriented growth. The study also evaluates changes in social relations, particularly the reconfiguration of caste dynamics under conditions of industrial expansion, migration, and urbanization. It considers the persistence of caste as a structuring force in labour segmentation and community organization, while also noting new forms of social mobility enabled by industrial capital and market access. Gender relations are examined in relation to labour participation, highlighting the incorporation of women into textile production and the resulting shifts in household economies. Cultural patterns in Tiruppur are analysed in relation to economic change, focusing on the adaptation of local traditions, religious practices, and associational life within an industrializing context.

Abstract Agriculture is an important sector of the Indian economy and provides livelihood to a large section of the rural population. However, farmers frequently face financial difficulties due to crop failures, increasing cultivation costs, drought conditions, and unstable market prices. Agricultural indebtedness has emerged as a serious issue in many parts of India, particularly in drought-prone regions such as Vijayapura district of Karnataka. To address farmer distress, the government introduced loan waiver schemes aimed at reducing the debt burden on farmers and improving rural economic stability. The present paper theoretically analyzes loan waiver schemes implemented in Karnataka with special reference to Vijayapura district. The study discusses the causes of farmer indebtedness, objectives of loan waiver schemes, their socio-economic implications, challenges in implementation, and the need for sustainable agricultural reforms. The paper concludes that while loan waivers provide temporary relief, long-term agricultural development policies are essential for improving farmers' livelihoods.

Noise pollution in India has escalated from an urban nuisance to a critical violation of the fundamental Right to Life under Article 21 of the Constitution. Despite a robust legal framework established by the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, many Indian metropolitan centres remain characterised by a persistent culture of sonic excess and unregulated social noise. This paper identifies a significant research gap at the intersection of environmental law and civic sociology: the failure of statutory limits in the absence of a culture of acoustic civility and basic civic decency. The objective of this research is to evaluate the efficacy of the right to silence by examining the gap between statutory environmental limits and lived civic etiquette. It examines whether AI-driven surveillance can substitute for social discipline by contrasting noisy urban life in North India with the comparatively disciplined driving environments of Mizoram and Sikkim. This paper evaluates Indian judicial precedents through a socio-legal methodology, measured against international standards and regional successes. Key findings suggest that while the judiciary has elevated silence to an essential constitutional right, enforcement is crippled by high social tolerance for noise, institutional fragmentation, and a lack of municipal accountability. The paper explores the role of AI-powered noise cameras as a necessary tool to enforce Acoustic Source Localization and concludes by proposing a model of Acoustic Civility in which legal penalties are supported by mandatory behavioural sensitisation and automated surveillance.

Abstract Hypertension is one of the most common cardiovascular disorders worldwide and is considered a major risk factor for stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure, and renal diseases. Despite the availability of numerous antihypertensive agents, long-term therapy is often associated with adverse effects and poor patient compliance. Medicinal plants have gained increasing attention as alternative therapeutic agents because of their safety, affordability, and pharmacological effectiveness. Punica granatum, commonly known as pomegranate, is a medicinal plant widely used in traditional medicine systems for the treatment of various ailments. Although the fruit, peel, and seeds of Punica granatum have been extensively studied, the leaves also possess significant pharmacological activities due to the presence of bioactive phytoconstituents such as flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids, phenolic compounds, and glycosides. Recent studies have demonstrated that pomegranate leaves exhibit antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, vasodilatory, cardioprotective, and antihypertensive activities. The antihypertensive effect is mainly attributed to the reduction of oxidative stress, inhibition of angiotensin-converting enzyme, improvement of endothelial function, and modulation of lipid metabolism. This review summarizes the phytochemistry, pharmacological activities, possible mechanisms, and therapeutic potential of Punica granatum leaves in the management of hypertension.
