 Abstract

One of the most enduring phenomena which seems to go back to the beginnings of human culture, is religion. Its persistence continues in human society perhaps because of the important social functions that it performs. With the passage of time, one finds that religion may no longer play the role it did in the past as these roles, to a large extent, have been taken over by secular institutions. Moving away from organised religion is something that we are witnessing today - globalisation and consumerism play a key role in encouraging a more individualised religion and spirituality simply because they can be customised and packaged to suit individual preferences. Hence, although what we believe and how we practice this belief is an individual process, group activity is still required to in order to meet these individual spiritual demands.In this age of consumerism, religion and spirituality has come to be sold as products in the market. The focus of this paper is to present these emerging trends of the commercialisation of religion and spiritualities.

 Abstract

Adolescent is the period between childhood and adulthood. Menarche is an unforgettable and significant event in girls. The menarcheal timing is associated with the health of the adolescent girls. The aim of this study was to study the behavioural changes during menarche among school going adolescent girls of Porbandar district. The study was performed in different schools of Porbandar. The inclusion criterion was adolescent girls who underwent menarche. Questionnaire was used as research tool to collect data. Purposive random sampling was used to select the girls for this research study. Among the 250 girls the highest percentage of 80% (200) was in normal age of reaching menarche. 44% of late menarching girls experienced weight gain when compared to early and normal menarching girls. Maximum percentage (68.29%) of girls who experienced moodiness was early menarching girls. highest percentage of 85.4% of girls from normal menarching group had an attraction towards opposite sex. Highest percentage of 90.2% was noted among early menarching girls who were interested in watching romantic films. Awakening the girls and parents with right information on menstruation will lessen the behavioural issues and assist the girls to keep in mind that menstruation as a normal physiological process of the body.

 Abstract

There have been paradigmatic shifts in recent literary writings. Scholarly attention is being paid to the cultural context of the literary endeavors. It has rightly been remarked that different readings, re-readings often land one into an enriched vocabulary and different meanings of the same content but in differing contexts. William Shakespeare has and perhaps will remain the most fascinating writers of the literary world and the present article is an attempt to trace the trajectory of development into the digital literary traditions inspired by Shakespearean writings. His works can be analyzed from differing viewpoint and perspectives and this is the prime reason why we have chosen it to be the main theme of the present study.

 Abstract

This paper is an attempted to assess the social responsibilities and community participation towards AWC and evaluate non formal preschool education at AWCs in Sivasagar district of Assam. The sample of 90 respondents was selected from different AWCs located in Sivasagar district of Assam. A purposive sampling technique (non probability sampling) has adopted for sample selection and exploratory research design has adopted to access the social responsibilities, community participation and evaluation of non formal preschool education at AWCs. The main tools for collection of data were interview schedule and observation method. Though there is a good number of studies on Anganwadi system under ICDS, the proper evaluation of social relationships, community participation and the works for preschool education have not received due attention yet. The study revealed that people are not aware of what ICDS is and what programmes and benefits are there for them. There is no relation, linkage or co-ordination between the local clubs, youth organization and Mahila Mandal with the AWC, which is a vital weakness and should be overcome to strengthen the process of community participation.

 Abstract

The traditional methods of teaching language, like the structural, humanistic and natural methods that served for many years have been not really not effective because they give limited attention to teaching language for purposeful communication. The communicative approach which is (as its name suggests) an approach and not a rigidly defined method and its development was a reaction against the mechanical pattern practice and the belief that language usage is the result of conscious learning of grammar. Communicative language teaching (CLT) emphasized the need to teach communicative competence as opposed to linguistic competence. In other words, while the learners use the language they also get feedback and, in the process, learn the language . The paper discusses some merits of the communicative approach in language teaching.
